CfP: Travels and Religion in the (long) Eighteenth Century

 

The Interdisciplinary Center for Pietism Research at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg is hosting the Sixth International Conference for Pietism Research, which will occur August 28 – September 1, 2022. The theme of the conference is “Travels and Religion in the (long) Eighteenth Century,” and proposals addressing (but not limited to) the following aspects of Reisenkulturen from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries are welcome.

 

  1. Travels and Globality
  2. Travels and Religion
  3. Travels, Piety, and Pietism
  4. Logistics – Personal Networks, Ship- and Street-Connections, Locomotion
  5. Preparation – Books, Maps, Languages, Guides
  6. Daily Life of Traveling, between Routine and the Unexpected
  7. Dream Trips, Contracted Travels, Compulsory Travels
  8. Actual Travels and Imagined Travels
  9. Travels with, through and to a Text
  10. Materiality of Travels – Objects on Trips
