"Introducing 4-Oceans: a 2020 synergy grant project" presented by Cristina Brito (CHAM, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa) and Poul Holm (Trinity College Dublin) 14 January 2021 (CET, Spanish time).

The first activity in 2021 of the permanent seminar Iberian Worlds and Early Globalization of the PAI HUM 1000 group will be the seminar "Introducing 4-Oceans: a 2020 synergy grant project" presented by Cristina Brito (CHAM, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa) and Poul Holm (Trinity College Dublin) which will take place through zoom on Thursday 14th January 2021 at 18:00 (CET, Spanish time).

Professors Brito and Hulm will present the 4-OCEANS project, which has just obtained 10.4 million euros within the Sinergy Grant call of the European Research Council (ERC). This project brings together the efforts of experts in marine environmental history, climate history, natural history, geography, historical ecology and zooarchaeology to assess the importance of marine life for human societies over the last two millennia and consider how certain socio-economic, cultural and environmental forces have limited and allowed marine exploitation. The aim is to understand its consequences, both for human societies and for the sea.

This activity is carried out online and openly through the zoom platform.
