The Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies (BIAAS) seeks grant proposals for projects aimed at promoting an understanding of the historic relationship between the United States and Austria (including Habsburg Austria).

Fields of Interest

Eligible fields include, among others, history, music, politics, economics, law, and cultural studies.

What We Fund

Applications may include support for research, publications, and web/media projects. Salary replacement and/or tuition are not eligible. 

Grant Amount

The maximum funding an applicant may seek is $25,000; there is no minimum request.

Application Process

Only grant applications submitted through the online application system will be considered. First-time users must create an account prior to beginning the application process. Users can then begin to prepare and save the application within the system prior to submission. Applicants are encouraged to review frequent application questions here.

Applications are due by 5:00 PM EST, March 1, 2021. Applicants will be notified of the results of their applications in June 2021. Grants will be distributed before September 1, 2021, with the grant award period beginning on September 1, 2021, and ending on August 31, 2022. A final report will be due within ninety days after the completion date of the award period.
