Call for Submissions
Journal of Advanced Military Studies
Marine Corps University Press publishes the Journal of Advanced Military Studies (JAMS, formerly MCU Journal) on topics of concern to the Marine Corps and the Department of Defense through the lens of various disciplines, including international relations, political science, security studies, and political economics.
2021 SPECIAL ISSUE
Strategic Culture
Strategic culture provides an analytical lens to better view local, regional, national, and international motivations, behaviors, and strategies. The editors are seeking articles on topics related to strategic culture as it pertains to enduring issues of global security. In particular, what motivates a nation or other cultural group to react or take certain actions? Which state, nonstate, or substate actions are difficult to explain or anticipate through traditional international relations approaches and might be better understood through a strategic culture lens? Articles can cover the topic along a broad spectrum, from civilian to military examples, historical analyses, cognitive and behavioral examples, contemporary approaches, and forward-thinking constructs.
JAMS is a peer-reviewed journal, and submissions should be 4,000–10,000 words, footnoted, and formatted according to Chicago Manual of Style (17th edition). Junior faculty and advanced graduate students are encouraged to submit. MCUP is also looking for book reviewers to offer feedback on the most recent university press releases on the topic of strategic culture. Submissions due by 30 April 2021.
