Handbook of Research on Lessons Learned From Transitioning to Virtual Classrooms During a Pandemic

Dixie Abernathy, Rob Ceglie and Amy Thornburg have just been approved to write a second book related to online learning. This proposal moves the focus to the impact of online learning during the current Covid19 pandemic. Our book will be titled Handbook of Research on Lessons Learned From Transitioning to Virtual Classrooms During a Pandemic.

We are looking for between 25-30 chapters to fill the book. Each chapter is expected to be in the 8,000- 12,000 word range. So please forward this invitation to your colleagues and other organizations you believe would be interested. We do not yet have solid book sections, however yet be some of our ideas include:

K-12 perspectives focusing on teacher perspective and lessons learned
Student teachers’ perspectives and lessons learned
Administrators’ perspectives and lessons learned
Useful resources for k-12 virtual teaching
Useful resources for higher education virtual teaching
Assessments and ensuring learners are comprehending content within virtual teaching
School system and central office perspectives
Parents perspectives at learning and understanding virtual instruction when helping their
children navigate new learning instruction
Self-regulated learning strategies
Student motivation
Course design
Optimal student engagement
Performance-based, task-oriented assessments
Emergent instructional strategies
Professor training
Professor engagement

Please let us know if you are interested in committing as soon as possible. The focus is on the above topic titles/ideas; however, we are open to other related topics for on-line learning.
Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before July 4, 2020, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the goal and objectives of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by July 30, 2020 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by November 1, 2020, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors will also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project (expect to act as peer reviewer for at least two chapters). Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process. All proposals should be submitted through the eEditorial Discovery®TM online submission manager. THE SUBMSISSION DEADLINE HAS PASSED BUT WE ARE STILL SEEKING PROPOSED CHAPTERS.
