The Diasporic Plate

Open to scholars of food studies, postcolonial and migration studies, history etc., this online conference explores the pivotal role of food discourses in times of crisis, including the current pandemic. In everyday life, history and representation, food occupies a central role. 

We invite 15 minute papers on the following themes:

food and consumption

food and resilience

literary and cultural representations of food

women and global food systems

migration and foodways

taste and the urban environment

the transcultural figuration of food
