The purpose of this seminar is to reflect on how educators teach in an effective and affective way in educational environments transformed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The transformation of face-to-face courses into courses taught online has altered teaching methodologies and how instructors interact with their students. In the humanities, the interpersonal interaction between the instructor and students is an important determining factor to ensure that subject matter is effectively assimilated by students. With this seminar we want to open a dialogue to reflect on the educational practices carried out during this period to encourage interaction among students, instructors, and the subject matter. Some of the questions that this seminar will explore are: How have concepts such as multiculturalism, diversity, and equity been integrated into core concepts? How are we rethinking the transformation of our teaching methods? How is the pandemic affecting the development of teacher-student relationships? In addition, another important factor in today's teaching considers the technology that has become commonplace in our classes, and is here to stay. How is technology becoming a more and more indispensable part of the infrastructure of a course? What consequences do these changes have for instructors and students? The times that we are living in during the Coronavirus pandemic are driving us to re-evaluate how teaching pedagogies have to develop digital aspects to guarantee effective and affective educational practices. Finally, we want to invite the participants in this seminar to reflect on how these moments that we are experiencing are transforming our teaching philosophies. Please send a 250-word abstract and a short bio by September 30th, 2020 via NeMLA.
