Third Stone—a journal devoted to Afrofuturism, African-futurism, and other modes of the Black Fantastic—is expanding its staff with two exciting new positions: a grants and business coordinator as well as a social media coordinator. The individuals who assume these positions will play a vital role in the growth and development of Third Stone, enabling us to innovate and to reach a wider audience as we engage critical and creative conversations on the topics mentioned above. Provided below are the specifications for each position:

  • Maintains responsibility for the effective management and control of grants obtained

  • Establishes and monitors the financial accounts for Third Stone Journal

  • Assists with the administration of grant finances, including the reconciliation of monthly grant accounts

  • Liaises with donors to ensure timely and compliant submissions that enhance Third Stone relationships with funders

Social Media Coordinator:

  • Establishes and revises the guidelines for social media posts (along with the Editor-in-Chief and co-managing editors) to ensure that posted content is relevant to the journal and its mission

  • Communicates the Third Stone brand in a positive, authentic way

  • Creates and publishes high-quality content, according to a regular publishing scheduling, that can increase engagement and attract new viewers/authors
