The purpose of this book is two-fold. One, to examine student achievement and school improvement through the lens of education equity and school culture. Two, define and describe the assessment process and key indicators for school success. An Equity and Culture Assessment is a comprehensive guide that can be used to assist schools/districts in collecting data on their school culture and academic performance. The book will assist P-12 educators to objectively assess the extent of equitable practices in schools, establish measurable goals for improvement and develop a plan of action, implement appropriate practices based on evidence of success and consistently monitor and assess programs for ongoing progress toward academic goals.
The book will examine ten areas that are critical to creating and equitable school culture.
With that said, we are looking for chapters on the following topics:
Safe & Orderly Environments
Opportunity Gaps/Academic Disparities
Educational Leadership/Leadership Capacity
Abstract and CV Due: June 6, 2020
You will receive a response to your submission no later than July 15, 2020 after deadline has passed.
Abstracts should be between 400 and 700 words and should present a basic outline of your potential contribution to the volume and potential methodology. If you make the initial cut, you will be contacted by Dr. Cleveland to discuss and finalize your contribution to the volume. Send an abstract and a CV to Roger.Cleveland@kysu.edu. Final drafts will be approximately 5,000 to 8,000 words, but exact word counts for each article will be discussed at the time of acceptance.
