Journal Aims and Scope

Nigeria Journal of Public Policy (NJPP), published annually by the Prof. B. I. C. Ijomah Centre for Policy Studies and Research, is a multi-disciplinary journal devoted to original research in the fields of anthropology, economics, development and postcolonial studies, education, environmental studies, history, information sciences and sociology, with a focus on public policy. It welcomes articles that combine theoretical rigour with empirical information. Innovative opinion pieces are also welcome. Papers to be assessed for publication should include a section on the policy implications of the subject matter under discussion.

Manuscript Submission

All enquiries about editorial matters should be made to Emmanuel J. Ibuot ( Book reviews should be addressed to the Editor for onward transmission to specialized readers. Authors are not paid for their articles. Full responsibility for accuracy of information lies with the author. Authors of accepted manuscripts will be required to send a brief bio- data, of not more than 100 words, to be included in the publication.

Editorial Policy

All submitted manuscripts are double-blind peer-reviewed. Authors should expect two review reports and a letter from the Editorial desk in response to their submissions. For the meantime the journal will be online only.

Instructions for Authors

NJPP allows for authorship to be limited to those who contributed significantly to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the manuscript.

Submission of a manuscript implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or academic thesis or as an electronic preprint), and is not under consideration elsewhere.


Texts are to be written in clear English. Simple, but not simplistic, language is preferred. Only British English is accepted.

Title Page

Submitted manuscripts should include the title page with authors' academic title(s), full name(s) and affiliation(s) as well as corresponding author's contact information. The abstract, which should be on the second page of the manuscript, and which must not exceed 250 words, should give a summary of the paper – background/statement of the problem, methods, results/discussion and conclusion.


References should be with Chicago Manual of Style Endnotes Format. Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Authors of articles published in NJPP remain the copyright holders of their article and may grant third parties the right to use, reproduce and share in line with Creative Commons licensing agreement.
