CALL FOR PAPERS:  DEADLINE EXTENDED

NB:  Due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the outbreak of COVID 19, the PHA has extended the deadline to April 1st for the 2020 annual meeting.

The Pennsylvania Historical Association invites proposals for its 2020 annual meeting to be hosted at Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA., October 15-17, 2020.

The conference theme will be “Suffrage, Political Rights and Equality” in honor of the 100th anniversary of the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1919 and the first female voters in 2020. The program committee welcomes proposals that address the topic of rights, equality and citizenship from the colonial era to modern times in Pennsylvania and mid-Atlantic history.  In addition to sessions on traditional scholarship, the program committee encourages panels on pedagogy, public history or material culture.   Full session proposals are strongly preferred, though the committee will consider individual papers.  Graduate students are encouraged to submit proposals.  The PHA also supports student research with a poster session showcasing work on all aspects of mid-Atlantic history.

All program participants must be members of the PHA at the time of the annual meeting.

Proposals must be submitted electronically by April 1st, 2020.
