The panel will survey parliamentary institutions from 1850 to 1945 in countries that face the Pacific Ocean: during this interval, what role do technological progress and economic change play in the history of these institutions?  The International Commission is now an American Historical Association Affiliated Society and its scholars participated in AHA's most recent conference (New York City, January 2020). The International Commission was founded in Lausanne in 1936 and has been continuously active throughout the world since 1945. Please see www.ichrpi.info/ for further information regarding the history of the organization and its purposes. The International Commission welcomes submissions from scholars interested in the history of parliamentary institutions. Please contact Dr. Peter J. Aschenbrenner, National Convenor (US) for further information regarding the scope of the topic. We are also interested in contact from scholars wishing to serve as panel chairs and/or commentators.
