In Media Res - Call for Proposals for Late October and November 2017

In Media Res has announced calls for proposals for the rest of October and November.

First, In Media Res has announced a call for proposals on a theme week entitled "Meta-Criticism."  The deadline is Wednesday, October 25.  Here is a link to the call:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yINBDMgiO79hIGlYBulBp0CB9_-JncpWY4JxQeifLGU/edit

Second, we are accepting proposals for its theme week on social media celebrities.  The deadline is Monday, October 30.  Here is a link to the call:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/12Iw3uj5AjvzPWF2ti3znyNQTTFRr2qGpOYpQKIoc53I/edit

We are also accepting proposals for our theme week on the Netflix television series Stranger Things.  The deadline is Tuesday, October 31.  Here is a link to the call:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AcKUdaM7SDfAT2SdaduZJPyqxYpmYGXaFgG7yfD6WuI/edit

Fourthly, In Media Res has announced a call for proposals for a theme week entitled "The Post-Colonial identity."  The deadline is Friday, November 17. Here is a link to the call: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CbX5XhYveCrWvYj9S4bJSvWas1aACFok85AeDSYPE3Y/edit

Proposals may be brief (one paragraph).  However, do be sure to describe the topic and key questions to be explored. Please submit your proposal by the date listed on the call. If interested, please contact In Media Res (inmediares@gsu.edu) with your proposals or for more information about the theme. Be sure to include the name of the theme week you would like to be involved with in the subject line of the email.

 

Academics, journalists, critics, media professionals and fans are all welcome to submit proposals.

The actual piece will include either a 30-second to 3-minute clip, an image, or a slideshow that will be accompanied by a 300 to 350 word response to/contextualization of your clip, image, or slideshow. In addition to the your piece, you will be expected to engage the other pieces presented that week to encourage discussion and further flesh out the individual topic in relation to the week’s theme.
