I am seeking panelists for a panel at the inaugural Arch Dalrymple III Department of History Graduate History Conference at the University of Mississippi on March 21, 2020.

My paper explores elite southern ideas about industrialization and the place of poor white and enslaved black labor in it. Another panelist, Griffin Jones, will present a paper that explores the experience of enslaved workers as enslaved and as workers in antebellum southern industry. Broadly, the theme of the panel will explore the boundaries of black and white labor in the antebellum south.

If you research slavery, the antebellum South, slavery and industry, poor whites, or any potentially related topic,  and you would like to present your work, please send a 350 word proposal and your CV to jglossne@go.olemiss.edu by January 10, 2020.
