Handbook of Research on Cyberbullying and Online Harassment in the Workplace
A book edited by Leslie Ramos Salazar (West Texas A&M University)

Introduction
Workplace cyberbullying and online harassment have become escalating problems around the world given users’ heavy reliance of modern communication technologies such as mobile and tablet devices, laptops, computers, and social media networks. Workplace cyberbullying involves sending threatening messages, images, and posts directly or indirectly to others whom we interact with in work settings. Organizations of all sizes and sectors (public and private) may encounter workplace cyberbullying within and outside the boundaries of physical workplace buildings. Predators may target workplace victims anonymously and repeatedly using multiple channels such as blogs, emails, social media, and text messaging. Once targeted, victims may not know how to cope and deal with this issue, and if business managers do not understand the complexity of this issue, organizations and business agencies may suffer from consequences such as absenteeism, retaliation, and job turnover (West et al., 2014). Victims may also experience emotional and psychological trauma, and physiological discomforts that can lead to severe mental health issues such as anxiety and depression (Coyne et al., 2017). Thus, the purpose of the Handbook of Research on Cyberbullying and Online Harassment in the Workplace is to provide an in-depth review of cutting edge concepts and theories surrounding the area of workplace cyberbullying and online harassment, including, but not limited to conceptualizations, theoretical underpinnings, conceptual analyses, empirical studies, cases and applications, and interventions, to obtain an enhanced grasp of this area of research.

Objectives of the Book
This handbook has two encompassing objectives. First, to provide a volume of collaborative empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, case study analyses, and interventions surrounding the emergent area of workplace cyberbullying and online harassment. Second, to provide an in-depth coverage of concepts and principles, and interdisciplinary perspectives on the issue of workplace cyberbullying and online harassment to the audience. As such, the aim of this handbook is to provide a quality volume with comprehensive material to academics, researchers, students, and practitioners across the globe as a reference book and as a textbook.

Target Audience
The book will be suitable for academics, researchers, faculty, doctoral and graduate students, university libraries, policy makers, business managers, and practitioners from organizations and agencies. This volume will provide a summary of cutting-edge research of workplace cyberbullying and online harassment that can be used in higher education and organizational contexts. The foundational knowledge of this book will serve as a reference point for business managers and practitioners, and will also prompt future academic research.
