Final call for submissions for the 2019 HOOKS NATIONAL BOOK AWARD. Deadline: December 31, 2019. The Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change, at the University of Memphis is accepting submissions for its 2019 Hooks National Book Award, which recognizes a non-fiction book that best furthers understanding of the American Civil Righs Movement and its legacy. Books focusing on current civil rights and social justice issues are eligible. To be eligible for consideration, books must have a first-published date in 2019.
And award of $1,000 is presented to the winning author at an event at the University of Memphis in the fall of 2020. The winner must attend the event to accept the award and present a lecture about the book.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: Submit one copy of the nominated book, along with publisher information and full contact information (name, email address, mailing address and phone number) for BOTH the nominator and the the book author. Submissions must be postmarked no later than 12/31/19.
