The Indian Ocean International Conference is the result of the activities of the R&D Project Narrative of the Indian Ocean in the Lusophone Space (NILUS) funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (PTDC/CPC-ELT/4868/2014), coordinated by Professor Ana Mafalda Leite (University of Lisbon) and hosted by the Center for African and Development Studies (CEsA), Lisbon School of Economics and Management at the University of Lisbon.

The Conference aims to bring together teachers, researchers, writers, poets and artists from various areas of the Indian Ocean.
