Within the III International Congress / XVII Congress of Agrarian History-SEHA / IX Encontro Rural RePort, to be held in the city of Salamanca, Spain, next June 3-5, 2020, we make a call for papers to participate in the Panel: "Experiences, transfers, interferences: forests and forestry science in Latin America".

Since its insertion in the world economy during the 16th century, Latin American temperate and tropical forests have been actively involved in shaping this history; however, the exploitation of their resources has not been characterized by order and planning in the long term.  This situation should have changed when the postulates of forest science began to penetrate forest management, until the 20th century, at least in theory. The objective of this panel is to put on the table the different historiographic approaches to the management of the Latin American forests from the 16th to the 20th century, with the intention of comparing the methods, actors, challenges, efforts and negligence of the different forms of exploitation (vernacular, mercantilist, industrial, empirical, scientific, conservationist, local, regional, national, etc.), and how they were formed within a network, sometimes tense and conflicting, sometimes not, of experiences, transfers and interferences, with divergent results for the landscapes and ecosystems at stake.

Paper proposals are received in SPANISH, ENGLISH AND / OR PORTUGUESE through an abstract of no more than 200 words UNTIL DECEMBER 2, 2019 to the following emails: juanluisdelgado80@gmail.com / ignaccio@hotmail.com
