The Department of History of the College of Charleston invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in pre-colonial African history. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in African history by August 2020, when the position begins.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to affiliate with the African Studies Program, as well as other interdisciplinary programs. In addition to upper-level and graduate courses in pre-colonial Africa, the ability to teach general education pre-modern and/or modern history surveys is essential.
Promise of excellence, both in research and undergraduate & graduate teaching, is required; teaching experience and publications are preferred. Initial interviews of selected applicants will be conducted via Skype.
