MATC is pleased to offer a pair of workshops at the 2019 conference for scholars and practitioners working on articles in the areas of theatre history, performance, pedagogy, theory, and/or practice. Articles-in-Progress workshops offer participants the opportunity to meet in a closed session with journal editors who have read their work in advance and who will offer suggestions for improvement as well as strategies for submitting to academic journals.
Recent Articles-in-Progress sessions have included editors from:
If you have an article you are preparing to submit for publication and would like critical feedback from journal editors, please submit proposals via the online form by NOVEMBER 1, 2019 available here: https://forms.gle/xCEvSL9X6dRWWmCm7
If you have any questions regarding proposals, please contact session coordinators Meredith Conti and Ariel Nereson at article_session@matc.us
All proposals must include:
- your name
- your academic affiliation, if any
- your title (identifying whether you are faculty, a student, or an independent scholar—all are invited to submit)
- your contact information
- a 500-word abstract of the essay
- a one-page works cited list
Session coordinators will select essays for two workshops – one for graduate students and one for faculty and independent scholars – based on the overall clarity of the project and the time limitations of the conference itself. Authors initially selected must submit full versions of their essays by January 31, 2020 and register for the conference for final approval for the session.
Please note that no individual may submit to more than two symposia, including the Articles-in-Progress sessions. This limit is put in place to avoid scheduling conflicts and to provide more individuals the opportunity to present.
