The John Wesley Powell Prize commemorates the explorer and federal administrator whose work demonstrated early recognition of the importance of historic preservation and historical display. Presented by the Society for History in the Federal Government (SHFG), the prize annually honors distinction by an individual or principal collaborators for a single project completed in the last two years that focuses on history "in and of the federal government." The prize rotates annually between projects of historical display/interpretation (awarded in odd years) and those of historic preservation (awarded in even years). The 2020 prize will be awarded for an historic preservation project. Deadline for submissions is November 16, 2019. Go to the SHFG website for complete eligibility and submission instructions.
