Eligibility:  Applicants should be enrolled in a graduate program leading to the masters or doctoral degree and actively engaged in research on Florida history or research that incorporates Florida as a major focus. The Chase Family Award has funded research in many aspects of Florida history (see website for a list of previous recipients and their topics).  Research involving Florida agriculture and/or the citrus industry are particularly appropriate but proposals on all Florida-related areas of research are welcome. The grant is especially intended to assist graduate students at institutions outside the state of Florida who need to work on-site with materials held at the University of Florida.

Requirements:  Awardees are required to spend at least one week (five working days) on-site at the P.K. Yonge Library of Florida History. One award travel grant will be made annually for a maximum of $1000 to help defray travel expenses.

Applying:  Applications for 2020 are now open.  Please submit your application, budget, and letter of recommendation by 5:00 PM Eastern on Friday, November 22, 2019.  For information and forms on how to apply see the Application Instructions at the grant website or you are welcome to contact James Cusick at jgcusick@ufl.edu.  Applicants should stipulate what resources at the P.K. Yonge Library they will be using and why those resources are important to their reseach.  Announcement of award will be made in January 2020.
