Overdyke Student Awards in North Louisiana History

Place, date, and time for spring awards' banquet to be announced

These awards are made in memory of Dr. W. Darrell Overdyke, Centenary College, through the generosity of the late Mrs. Overdyke and her brother, Mr. E. Laurence Walker, of Shreveport, Louisiana.

A. $200.00 first prize for best article by an undergraduate student on some aspect of North Louisiana History. Second prise is $150.00; Third place is $100.00. Winners are guests at the spring luncheon.

B. $200.00 first prize for best article by a graduate student on some aspect of North Louisiana History. Second prise is $150.00; Third place is $100.00. Winners are guests at the spring luncheon.

C. A one-year complimentary subscription to North Louisiana History, the journal of the North Louisiana Historical Association, will be awarded to each placing entry. The prize-winning articles must be published exclusively in the journal.

D. GUIDELINES:

1.  Entrant must have been a student in the past school year and be so certified by a memo from a faculty member. Include the student's educational level (undergraduate, graduate), home mailing address, email address, and telephone number in the memo.

2. Length of the article should not exceed 25 double-spaced, typed pages.

3. DEADLINE for submission: March 23, 2020.
