The Trustees of the International Society for the History of the Map invite you to the ISHMap biennial symposium on 11-13 June 2020, in São Paulo, Brazil. The Call for Papers is open through October 31, 2019.

ISHMap welcomes any contribution in the history of maps and mapping, with preference for individual or collaborative papers, posters, or sessions that encourage engagement and interaction among symposium attendees.

The symposium is open to all working in the history of cartography.

ISHMap is particularly interested in proposals that focus on ‘breaking boundaries,’ both theoretically and in practice.    Specifically, we invite proposals that ask new questions, consider unusual materials, bring together ‘usual’ sources in new ways, or propose new ways of or venues for sharing findings.  Equally, we welcome participants from or methods of working with groups or communities who have traditionally not participated in the field of teaching, curating and scholarship of maps and map history.

Full information and a link to the submission form are available at the ISHMap webpage (http://ishmap.wordpress.com).
