IMC Leeds 2020 Call for Papers:

Exploring the Ocean, the feared European border

CHAM – Centre for the Humanities invites paper proposals for the 2020 International Medieval Congress in Leeds (6-9 July 2020), more specifically for a panel that discusses the Atlantic, as medieval border.

In connection with the thematic strand of IMC 2020, “Borders”, the central point of interest in this panel will be the exploration of the Great Sea and the changing concept of “Atlantic border” during the Middle Ages, analyzing the Atlantic as both and as space of interconnectivity and discovery.

Abstracts in English, no longer than 150 words, should be sent to mariabarretodavila@gmail.com before September 20, 2019. Notifications about acceptance will be sent out by September 25 at the latest. Both junior and senior scholars are welcome to submit an abstract.

The panel will be organized by CHAM – Centre for the Humanities, but the participants are responsible for they own registration costs. For further queries, please contact one of the organisers of the panel.
