The journal Genesis (https://www.viella.it/riviste/testata/6) invites contributions to a themed issue devoted to the materiality of the voice, edited by Sandra Cavallo and Nelly Valsangiacomo. Drawing inspiration from the increasing interdisciplinary interest in the history of sound and in the historical dimension of the human voice, this issue of Genesis aims to contribute to the debate by considering the human voice from a gendered perspective, by exploring the processes through which the male and the female voices were constructed and renegotiated from antiquity to modern times.
