The Frances S. Summersell Center for the Study of the South and the Charles G. Summersell Chair of Southern History at the University of Alabama are proud to announce it is receiving nominees for the 2020 Summersell Prize for the best book on the history of the American South. The prize is awarded biennially. 

 

The author of the prizewinner will receive a cash award of $5000 and be invited to deliver an address about the book at the University of Alabama campus in spring 2020. 

 

Books nominated for the next awarded prize must have been published between January 1, 2018 and June 1, 2019. Three copies of each nominated book should be mailed by August 1, 2019 to:
