Upgrading History. Diaries from the War Front is a new project funded by Europeana Foundation (Research Grant Programme 2018) and based at the University of Bologna (Department of Classic Philology and Italiani Studies).

The research focuses on eight war diaries (Italian and French) written by seven private soldier and a French nurse. They are published in two versions: StoryMap (in which the text is placed on a map, so the user can follow the soldier's path step by step) and a regular digital edition in EVT (with comments and introduction).

Upgrading History also shows the first draft of Isaac Rosenberg, the English poet who wrote while fighting in a trench.

The aim of this project is to renew old stories, in an historical period in which memory is getting lost.
