Call for papers -

Cultural sensitivity and responsiveness for mental health workers (Palgrave Macmillan)

We are seeking contributions for an edited collection to be published by Palgrave Macmillan. The book - Cultural sensitivity and responsiveness for mental health workers - will serve as an Australia-specific textbook on diversity and cultural sensitivity for higher education training programmes in psychology, counselling and social work.

Part of this book will be devoted to short written accounts of the lived experience of:

  • post-colonialism
  • racism
  • classism
  • sexism
  • heterosexism
  • cisgenderism
  • ageism
  • ableism
  • sizeism
  • religious hegemonism

We are looking for people interested in contributing a short 1000-1500 word written account or reflection on their lived experience concerning any of the above-mentioned areas, and the impact on their health and wellbeing.

Expressions of interest specifying which of the above streams you would reflect on and a brief indication of the content of your proposed reflection are invited.

Expressions of interest are open until midnight Monday 24 June 2019, and we will be in touch with the outcome of your submission within one week of that date. For those accepted, the full piece would be due by 29 July 2019.

Please submit your expression of interest to Dr Vicki Hutton.
