The Michigan Historical Review announces a call for graduate papers exploring themes from Michigan’s past for its 2019 Graduate Student Essay Prize. The winner will receive $2,000 and publication in our journal. Entry deadline is 1 July 2019. Papers must use original, primary source material and will be judged on style, research, originality, and proper documentation. They should be 10,000 to 12,000 words, double-spaced, and footnoted, with the author’s name not appearing anywhere on the paper. A cover letter with the name of graduate school and advisor must accompany. We are happy to answer any questions or address any concerns. Please send entry no later than July 1 to mihisrev@cmich.edu.

Questions may be addressed to Lane Demas, Editor, or Ed Bradley, Assistant Editor. The MHR, a scholarly journal published twice yearly, is based in the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University. Our phone number is 989-774-6567. Contact email is mihisrev@cmich.edu.
