Travel grants available to attend conference on archives outside of the former Soviet Union related to the Holodomor

The Holodomor Research and Education Consortium (HREC) announces the availability of stipends to support attendance by early career scholars at the conference Documenting the Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine: Archival Collections on the Holodomor outside the former Soviet Union, to be held at the University of Alberta on November 1-2, 2019. A conference concept and preliminary program may be found on the HREC website, 

A limited number of travel grants of up to $1,500 CAD are available to support scholars in deepening their knowledge of these under-researched archival sources with the aim of stimulating further research and publication.

HREC is a project of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta.

To apply, please send by June 15, 2019, via email to with the subject line "Archives conference travel grant" the following:

1) c.v.;

2) Statement explaining why you would like to participate (250-500 words);

3) Proposed topic for a short presentation (10-15 min. maximum) for day two of the conference;

4) Letter of recommendation.
