Culture, community and cities in the Pacific Rim.

 

Outline:

The conference takes a global perspective of the city today and seeks specific regional critiques on life and design in cities in the Pacific Rim region:

Japan, Korea, South Asia, East Asia, Australian, China and more

It is set in the context of the 50th anniversary of new interdisciplinary thinking on life, design and cultures in cities found in the writings of Jane Jacobs’.

The conference is expressly interdisciplinary and expects contributions from cultural theorists, historians, planners, architects and sociologists.
