The 2019 PAMLA Conference is being held over the November 14-17 weekend, in beautiful San Diego, California once again! Do consider joining us at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside hotel this year, and as many PAMLA attendees can attest, the conference itself is sure to be an incredibly enjoyable, friendly, and rigorous experience for scholars at all stages in their professional careers. Go to https://www.pamla.org/2019 for more information. See also our General Membership tab for PAMLA newcomers here: https://pamla.org/2019/general-membershippayment-policies!

At this time, you may now Submit a Proposal for the 2019 PAMLA Conference via our new conference and registration portal at https://pamla.ballastacademic.com/home/cfp, with more than 160 sessions approved.

Additionally, note just a few of the sessions dedicated to Multiethnic and Indigenous Studies available this year (there are other sessions, too, so take a look around!):

  • African American Literature
  • Asian American Literary & Cultural Studies
  • Comparative American Ethnic Literature
  • Indigenous Literatures and Cultures
  • Latinx Literature and Culture
  • Oceanic Literatures and Cultures
  • Creating Indigestion: Resisting the Carnival Consumption of the Other

Along with the many new sessions we have this year, we now offer multiple Session Formats and sessions are searchable via Subject Area (such as American, Asian, Film and Media Studies, and German). Our Conference Theme is "Send in the Clowns," but paper proposals not related to the theme are welcome.

Should you have any questions about our conference or proposal system, please email or call PAMLA Executive Director Craig Svonkin (director@pamla.org or 626-354-7526), PAMLA Assistant Director David John Boyd (communications@pamla.org), or PAMLA Communications Officer Russell McDermott (support@pamla.org). We look forward to your submissions for this year's 2019 PAMLA Conference.
