Outline:

2020 marks the 50th anniversary of Jane Jacobs’ The Economy of Cities. It came a decade after her seminal work, The Death and Life of Great American Cities, and heralded a new age in thinking about the city the world over.

The conference takes a global perspective of the city today and seeks specific regional critiques on cities in the Americas: their cultures, social make-up, physical traits; status as heritage and importance today.

The conference is expressly interdisciplinary and expects contributions from cultural theorists, historians, planners, architects, sociologists and more.

Presentations:

Pre-recorded and skype film presentation are available for delegates unable to attend in person. Pre-recorded presentations will be permanently available on the AMPS Academic YouTube channel.

Publishers:

Routledge Taylor&Francis, Intellect Books, Vernon Press, Cambridge Scholar Publishing, Libri Publishing and UCL Press.
