Culture, community and life in American cities - CFP
2020 marks the 50th anniversary of Jane Jacobs’ The Economy of Cities. It came a decade after her seminal work, The Death and Life of Great American Cities, and heralded a new age in thinking about the city the world over. No longer solely a physical issue, it was to be seen as a question of cultures, social make up, and a place of community formation and resistance.
The Complexity nad the City conference is expressly interdisciplinary and expects contributions from cultural theorists, historians, planners, architects, sociologists and more.
It particularly welcomes contributions on the American cultural experience in the city from the perspective of immigrant, marginalized, and under-represented communities.
