Overdyke Student Awards in North Louisiana History 2019
The Overdyke Student Awards in North Louisiana History are made in memory of Dr. W. Darrell Overdyke, Centenary College, through the generosity of the late Mrs. Overdyke and her brother, Mr. E. Laurence Walker, of Shreveport, LA.
$200 first prize for the best article submitted by an Undergraduate Student on some aspect of North Louisiana History. Second prize is $150; third prize is $100. Winners are guests at the spring luncheon.
$200 first prize for the best article submitted by a Graduate Student on some aspect of North Louisiana History. Second prize is $150; third prize is $100. Winners are guests at the spring luncheon.
Winners also receive a complimentary one-year subscription to North Louisiana History and publication of their articles. NLHA asks that these articles be published exclusively in our journal.
Guidelines:
1. Entrant must have been a student in the past school year (2018-19) and be so certified by a memo from a faculty member. Include the student's educational level (undergraduate, graduate), home mailing address, e-mail address, and telephone number in the memo.
2. Length of the article should not exceed 25 typed, double-spaced pages.
3. DEADLINE for submission: March 25, 2019.
4. Manuscripts should be typed and contain footnotes and a bibliography. Please send cover letter and manuscript via email to Kathleen Smith at ksmith@lsus.edu or englishlsus@yahoo.com.
