I plan to create a panel proposal for the 2020 AHA that deals broadly with themes or topics related to African American urbanization, class, and gender from the late nineteenth century to the middle of the twentieth.
My research examines the social justice efforts of middle-class black reformers in early twentieth century Pittsburgh. Among other topics, it examines the relationship between migrants from rural deep-South communities and college-educated activists operating in mainstream racial organizations like the Urban League.
Let me know if you might be interested. The deadline to submit AHA proposals is February 15.
