I am a final-year PhD candidate at the University of Houston and I am seeking participants for a panel on postwar Texas/Borderlands/American South political activism for the 2020 AHA conference in New York.  There are currently two people on the panel.  My paper looks at Rabbi Moshe Cahana, an Israeli activist in Houston who used his experiences fighting British colonialism as inspiration for being an activis for African American and Chicano civil rights across Texas.  The second paper on the panel examines AIDS activism in Houston and Dallas' gay communities and how these efforts contributed to dissemination of safe sex awareness throughout Texas.  We are looking for two more papers that would overlap with the theme of political activism, from the left or right, in Texas or neighboring states.

If you are interested in joining this panel, or are interested in being a commenter for the panel, email me, Timothy Quevillon, at trquevillon@uh.edu
