This conference aims to examine how World War II shaped existence in African communities. The impact of World War II in shaping livelihood, governance and relationships on the African continent has been a subject of significant scholarly debate. Beyond the labour, primary resources and military service of Africans, the war initiated new political, social and economic dynamics that would have lasting effects. Yet despite significant scholarly work on the impact of war in Africa, we still have much to learn about the dynamic of people’s lives in these years.
