Dear Colleagues,

I am putting together a panel on “Slave Sites and the Francophone World” for the 2018 French Colonial Historical Society Meeting in Seattle (May 31-June 2). I am seeking 1-2 more panelists and a chair. Ibrahima Seck and I will both be presenting papers on Gorée Island, Senegal. I am interested in expanding this panel to include papers that address slave monuments, memorials, museums, heritage sites, etc. in other regions of French, or former French, Empire.

If you are interested, please send me a “200-word summary, as well as the title of the paper, presenter’s name, institutional affiliation, e-mail address, phone number, and a brief curriculum vitae. All components of the proposal should be integrated into a single file MS-Word document” before October 15th. (sarah.zimmerman@wwu.edu)

Thank you for your interest!
