Third Annual South Asia Conference:

‘Exclusion, Dialogue, Exchange’

23 May 2019 – University of York, United Kingdom

We are inviting abstracts for the upcoming Third Annual White Rose South Asia Conference to be held at the University of York on 23rd May 2019. This one-day event will be focused on the general theme of ‘Exclusion, Dialogue and Exchange’, and will bring together postgraduate students from across the arts, humanities and social sciences to consider aspects of South Asian society. Abstracts may be concerned with any period, and themes may include (but are not confined to) politics, development and governance; literature, gender and arts; migration, movement and diaspora; borders, separatism and regional exclusion; religious and cultural studies, medical humanities, and comparative studies of South Asian regions and economies.

We hope to attract postgraduate researchers interested in such topics to present on and engage with new themes and ideas within South Asian studies. With participants from diverse disciplinary backgrounds, we hope to explore new methodologies and research ideas collectively in a bid to generate new conversations and perspectives. The conference will include a series of panels, a keynote by Prof. Sarah Ansari, and a workshop specifically designed for postgraduate researchers.
