The Champlain Society's peer-reviewed blog, Findings/Trouvailles, is seeking a new Editor. We are looking for a creative individual who will share their passion for Canadian history and encourage others to do the same through a scholarly, lively and unique format.
Findings/Trouvailles is a regular online feature of the Champlain Society that presents an intriguing piece of the Canadian past. Every posting offers a new insight: an archival document, a piece of correspondence, a baptismal record, an old newspaper report, film footage, a work of art, a sound recording, an object of material culture—even an entire building. Each “finding” or “trouvaille” is the subject of a learned discussion that, in the typical style of Champlain Society publications, illuminates the content and context of the “find.” It is widely read.
The Editor coordinates a team of scholars and Champlain Society members that form its editorial team. The position involves soliciting reviewers, editing reviews, corresponding with authors or publishers, and working with staff at the University of Toronto Press. The Editor position is especially well-suited to early-career academics, professionals working in libraries and museums, mid-career or late-career scholars who are eager to try something new. We are eager to promote new work.
