This one-day conference, produced in partnership with the Houses of the Oireachtas, is being held to mark the 100th anniversary of Dáil Éireann. It will commence the Irish Government’s programme of events to commemorate 100 years of Dáil Éireann, which first sat in the Mansion House on 21 January 1919.

Morning panel discussions will be chaired by Stephen Collins and Olivia O’Leary. They will each chair discussions with academic panellists who have an expertise in government, politics and history. Panel discussions will cover the origins, consolidation, evolution and development of Dáil Éireann.

Later, there will be discussions with politicians on recent innovations in the Dáil and its future, heading into its second century.

Finally, members of the media will discuss contemporary public perceptions of Dáil Éireann.

Mary E. Daly, MRIA will provide the conference closing remarks which will be followed by a reception.
