II International Conference for the Study of Chinese Immigration to Brazil:

Intercultural Relations

June 5-6, 2019

 

The II International Conference for the Study of Chinese Immigration to Brazil, to be held at the Pontifical Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) on June 05-06, 2019, intends to address issues related to interculturality in the context of Chinese immigration. We welcome panel proposals and individual papers from scholars, journalists, undergraduate and graduate students, independent writers, etc. The conference language will be ENGLISH, but Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese language proposals will also be accepted. Potential topics include, but are not limited to the following: 

 

1. Chinese Immigration in a global perspective; 
2. Chinese Immigration to Brazil: history and future trends; 
3. Diasporic Associations, Immigrant Religions and Cultural Identities; 
4. Chinese Language Teaching in Brazil, Chinese media;

5. Teaching Portuguese Language to Chinese immigrants;

6. Local Integration, social mobility and political visibility;  
7. Transnational Business Networks;
8. Topics related to Chinese immigration in Brazil and Latin America;
