In Media Res - Calls for Proposals for Fall 2018 Semester

In Media Res has announced calls for proposals for the Fall 2018 semester:  http://mediacommons.org/imr/how-it-works

First, we are accepting proposals for a theme week entitled "Fancasting."  The deadline for proposals is Monday, October 8.  Here is a link to the call:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bScobd3dA8pu0PDlVTvb0yi2t7x-NZuRUy6-8bjAhtM/edit

We are also accepting proposals for a theme week on director John Carpenter.  The deadline for proposals is Monday, October 15.  Here is a link to the call:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/14SXfSMVtB6LMo9OtmiD8VaWPxoImRcivCIbwzGsB-qg/edit

In Media Res is thirdly accepting proposals for a theme week on mythologies.  The deadline for proposals is Monday, October 22.  Here is a link to the call:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hA8An6tWPEljGTVdUB1qiS48PefpDxUPWykLIOXNoKU/edit

And, we are accepting proposals for a theme week entitled "Indigenous Made Media."  The deadline for proposals is Monday, November 19.  Here is a link to the call:   https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LeBOQOaQ5VhOALwUpA0QgWVtXjWkVP3zfXEf5E4GQc8/edit

Proposals may be brief (one paragraph), but do be sure to describe the topic and the key question(s) to be explored.  Please submit your proposals by the date listed above.  If interested, please contact In Media Res (inmediares@gsu.edu) with your proposals or for more information about the theme.  Be sure to include the name of the theme week you would like to be involved with in the subject line of your email.

Academics, journalists, critics, media professionals, and fans are all welcome to submit proposals

The actual piece will include a 30-second to 3-minute clip, an image, or a slideshow that will be accompanied by a 300 to 350-word response to/contextualization of your clip, image, or sideshow.  In addition to your piece, you will be expected to engage the other pieces presented that week to encourage discussion and further flesh out the individual topic in relation to the week's theme.
