This is a great opportunity for students, newcomers, and veterans of oral history alike to present their work internationally to a warm and welcoming audience. The application process requires just a short audio excerpt and some details about the interview. Here is the full CFP:
Do you have wisdom, questions, or quandaries to share from a recent interview or one in your archival collections? Submit an audio clip illustrating this lesson to the Oral History Jukebox Workshop at the 2018 OHA Annual Meeting! The workshop will take place on Friday, October 12 from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. Your excerpts will be presented and discussed directly with the workshop audience.
The Oral History Jukebox is an open, informal exchange where oral historians of all experience levels and backgrounds come together to listen and learn. This workshop will turn an open ear to the granularity of oral history recordings, searching the medium for key insights into the field.
Interested participants are asked to submit a 1-2 minute excerpt from an oral history interview that they find particularly fascinating or instructive, and to briefly explain what this particular moment has taught them about their approach to oral history – whether that be an insight into interview technique, processing, archiving, crowd-sourcing, or program management.
We welcome all to apply, including instructors of every level; students; local researchers; novices and hobbyists; and oral history professionals in community organizations, businesses, government agencies, and nonprofits. We’d also be grateful if you circulate this CFP widely to your networks, including any students, collaborators, and affiliates who might be interested in applying.
EXTENDED DEADLINE—Please submit your clip and all relevant details to this form by next Friday, September 28, 2018. Everyone is encouraged to attend this session, whether they choose to submit an interview clip or simply contribute to the conversation – please just bring a pair of headphones!
