For the International Congress of Asian Studies, in Leiden - 11th-19th July 2019 - we are inviting 3 to 4 scholars to make a contribution and examine how societal attitudes to nature, considered – or not– as the property of man (the Anthropocene) are expressed in philosophy and art in Asia and Europe and how the concept of harmony between man and nature as it exists now in Asia and Europe is the result of an exchange between the two continent since the end of the 19th c. We already have three proposals for Japan and are looking for contributions regarding Europe and China.
The panel will be submitted to the ICAS board and we shall notify contributors of the outcome in late November. We are looking for relevant proposals from art historians, philosophers, anthropologists, ethnologist, geographers...
