The Second Convention of the International Association for Comparative Fascist Studies (COMFAS) convenes in Uppsala, (Sept 25-27, 2019).  COMFAS seeks papers exploring: 

-- violence in fascist ideology and propaganda, 

--modes of exclusion of political, ethno-religious and social groups 

--gender, violence and fascist ideology

--the role of nationalism, social Darwinism and antisemitism in fascist ideology

--death and sacrifice as symbolic themes in fascist discourse

--the role of violence in fascist warfare 

--manifestations of mass political violence in different cultural and social contexts

--East-West dichotomies in ideology and violent repression in fascist Europe

--fascism and violence in contemporary academic knowledge production and media 

--fascism and violence in educational practice 

--violent interactions between fascists and anti-fascists

--fascists/extreme right violence in the post-1945 period


COMFAS welcomes individual papers as well as panel proposals.  Scholars interested in attending or contributing should email an abstract (250 words max) and bio with contact details (150 words max) to comfasconvention2019@comfas.org
