International Cooperation Project REDES 170026 'Rethinking the Agrarian History of Latin America'
NEW DATES: 13-14 December 2018 and EXTENDED DEADLINE: 1 October 2018
Due to growing interdisciplinary research, the history of agriculture and rural society is being studied from diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives.some of these were established decades ago, while others are still emerging. The aim of this colloquium is to promote dialogue between these different ways of doing history and reflect on the key issues, debates and research perspectives across Latin American history, at both regional and individual country levels. We invite researchers to present papers on the political, economic, cultural, social or environmental history of rural Latin American societies. Papers should be based on original research and make theoretical, methodological or empirical contributions that advance research in agrarian history. We are also interested in research that examines relevant contemporary issues, such as food security, the environmental impact of economic growth, responses to environmental change, struggles over water resources, among others. As such, we welcome submissions from anthropologists, economists and other scientists whos work on rural society has a historical focus.
Please send a 300-word abstract (in Spanish, English or Portuguese) to Claudio Robles: firstname.lastname@example.org or Anna Cant: email@example.com. The abstract should set out the research question, theoretical/methodological approach, central argument and contribution of the work. In addition, please send a one-page CV including full name, academic affiliation, e-mail address, research interests, and list of recent publications.
