We cordially invite you to attend the Second Conference on Intercultural Communication, which will be held at Pedagogical University of Cracow, Cracow, December 06-07, 2018.

In the contemporary world, interactions between people from different cultures become the common experience of many societies due, among others, to global migration, politics, trade, and tourism. Intercultural communication is the key to understanding human interactions, which cannot be ignored. It can be said that intercultural communication is one the principles for effective communication in the today’s world. Intercultural communication is a multi-approach and multi-disciplinary phenomenon, and we want to respect this complexity. We send our invitation to all social scientists who are particularly interested in intercultural communication studies.  

We suggest following areas of intercultural inquiries:    

  • Intercultural communication as a research agenda. 

  • Methodology of intercultural communication studies.

  • Various dimensions of intercultural communication. 

  • Intercultural competences and communication skills.

  • Sustainable intercultural development as a form of social integration.

  • Verbal and non-verbal aspects of intercultural communication.

  • Organizations and intercultural communication.

  • Mass-media and intercultural communication.

  • Interpersonal communication in intercultural contexts.  

  • Intercultural interpersonal communication.

  • Facilitators and boundaries in intercultural communication.

  • Cultural identity, diversity, multiculturalism, and intercultural communication.

  • Racism, xenophobia, conflicts, and intercultural communication.

  • Ethnocentrism, Eurocentrism, globalization, and intercultural communication.  

  • Development and intercultural communication.

  • Multicultural education.

  • Translation and intercultural communication.

  • Multicultural mediation.

  • New technologies and intercultural communication

 

Conference languages: Polish, English,  Spanish. 

The conference fee is 400 PLN (100 Euro). It includes coffee breaks, lunch and dinner in the first day of the conference.

There is NO reimbursement for travel and accommodation costs.

Abstract (1000 characters) and short bio should be submitted to lalbanski@up.krakow.pl The deadline for submissions is September, 31, 2018. 

Peer-reviewed and edited papers will be published in the STUDIA SOCIOLOGICA (a special issue on intercultural communication).
